A customer in Rugby, Warwickshire contacted us after losing all the keys to their Ford Fiesta ST. With no key present, the car was completely immobilised — it had already been recovered to a residential street when we arrived. We programmed two brand-new keyless remote keys on-site and the car was back on the road the same day.
The Job
All-keys-lost on a Ford Fiesta ST is one of the more involved key jobs. Without any existing key, the car's PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) immobiliser must be put into a learn mode via the OBD port using specialist Ford-compatible programming equipment, then two new transponders written to it from scratch. The Fiesta ST uses a 4D63 80-bit transponder in a keyless entry remote format — both keys are required by Ford's system before the car will start.
We completed the full immobiliser reset and programmed both keys on-site. The engine started first time with each key before we left.
Why All Keys Lost Needs a Specialist
All-keys-lost is not the same as adding a spare key. Without a working key to hand, most generic key cutting services cannot help. The immobiliser must be accessed directly, which requires professional diagnostic equipment and knowledge of the specific PATS generation fitted to the car. Attempting to use generic or poorly-matched programming tools on a Ford can result in a permanently locked ECU.
We carry Ford-specific equipment and have resolved all-keys-lost situations on everything from Fiestas and Focuses to Mondeos and Transit vans.
