A customer in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire wanted a spare key for their BMW 3 Series F30 (2016). Smart move — having a spare means a lockout or lost key is an inconvenience rather than a crisis. We came to them at home and had both keys programmed and working within the hour.
The Job
The F30 3 Series uses a CAS4+ immobiliser system — a step up in security from earlier BMW generations. Adding a spare key requires specialist BMW-compatible programming equipment to synchronise the new fob's transponder with the car's CAS module, as well as cutting the emergency blade to the existing key profile.
We carried the correct BMW key shell and blank for this generation, cut the blade on-site with our mobile key cutter, and programmed the remote and transponder using our BMW-specific tools. Two fully working keys tested and handed over.
