A customer in Daventry, Northamptonshire needed a spare key for their Volkswagen Sharan 2014 — a family MPV that's popular across the NN11 area. The car had only one key, so we attended at the customer's location and programmed a fully working spare on-site.
The Job
The VW Sharan (Mk2, 2010–2015) uses a flip-key format with a Megamos 48 transponder — the same chip platform shared across the VAG group (VW, Audi, SEAT, Skoda). Programming a new key requires accessing the car's immobiliser via OBD and writing the new transponder alongside the existing key without erasing it.
We cut and programmed two new flip keys, both tested fully — locking, unlocking and ignition — before leaving. One key to use, one spare.
